The Emigrant Companions stayed at the site of al-‘Usbah before the arrival of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in Madinah.
Al-Bukhārī narrates from Ibn ʿUmar, may Allah be pleased with them both, that he said:
When the first Emigrants came to al-‘Usbah – a place at Qubā’ – before the arrival of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, Sālim, the freedman of Abū Ḥudhayfah, led them in prayer, and he was the one among them who knew the most Qur’an.
